AMEE joins Misys OSS advisory board

Leading Developer of Carbon Planning Portal Forms Business Advisory Board to Tackle Climate Change

NEW YORK, N.Y. — (April 21, 2009) (PDF version)

Misys Open Source Solutions, a division of Misys plc (FTSE:MSY.L), today announced the Business Advisory Board members for (OCW), the company’s carbon planning and information portal designed to help organizations establish clear policies towards reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The Board is an international network of experts in the fields of industry, government, and academics who serve as advisers on law, technology and policy.

“We found there was a natural need to form an advisory board from our discussions with like-minded individuals who also had a desire to make a difference in the development and growth of carbon markets to reduce global carbon emissions,” said Bob Barthelmes, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Open Source Solutions. “It is the right complement to expand OCW’s use.”

The board also serves to promote collaboration between (OCW) and its key constituencies, such as environmental researchers, members of the carbon industry, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the business community at large.

Misys Open Source Solutions launched in September 2008 to provide organizations with the tools and resources they’ll need to prepare for the implementation of a U.S. cap-and-trade scheme where they will be required to reduce their carbon emissions.

“Leading the business community to action is a massive undertaking that cannot be done by one person, company, or government. It really requires the effort of a community; the Business Advisory Board is that accelerator,” said Board Member Margie Flynn, a principal and co-owner of BrownFlynn, a corporate responsibility and sustainability consulting firm based in Cleveland. “ is one of the best sources of information for U.S. organizations that want to know how they can comply with the impending legislation on curbing GHGs.”

“The information on OCW is carefully selected by industry experts, providing users with free access to the most up-to-date information on the evolving carbon markets,” said Howard L. Siegel, Partner, Brown Rudnick LLP, an international law firm with dedicated Climate & Energy and Cleantech Practices Groups. As the U.S. continues to develop its federal energy policy, businesses have a growing need to measure their carbon footprints, and Misys’ carbon planning tool (CPT) offers an innovative and effective solution that is based on the GHG protocol of the World Resource Institute ” concluded Siegel.

The Business Advisory Board (BAB) includes:

  • Charles Scott, Intel Corporation
  • Donal McGranaghan, Asset Control
  • Gavin Starks, AMEE
  • Howard Siegel, Brown Rudnick LLP
  • John Shinn, Chevron Corporation
  • Margie Flynn, BrownFlynn
